MARY JANE MILICI is a vibrant twenty-three-year old who grew up in Portsmouth, RI. After a childhood filed with school, modeling, painting, and performing classical ballet with the Newport Academy of Dance and the Island Moving Company. She was diagnosed in 2019 with MELAS disease following a massive stroke which temporarily took her vision and mobility. During her recovery, her grandmother brought paints and canvases to the house, and MJ began to paint; this helped build her strength and gave her a new vision. With the help of her family, she founded a greeting card company, Happy Little Card Store, the proceeds of which support the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) and others struggling with Mitochondrial Diseases.
